On October 18, 2025, the “Meet Tianjin, Experience China” Tianjin Cultural and Tourism Promotion Event, jointly organized by the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), the Tianjin Municipal Culture and Tourism Administration and the Tianjin Municipal People’s Government Foreign Affairs Office, was successfully held at the ACC. H.E. Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ACC, Deputy Secretary-General Yu Pengzhou of the Tianjin Municipal People’s Government, H.E. Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh of Vietnam to China, Deputy Chief of Mission and Minister Norfarina Mohd Azmee of the Embassy of Malaysia in China, Deputy Chief of Mission and Minister Counsellor Nhek Soparama of the Embassy of Cambodia in China, as well as approximately 200 representatives from ASEAN Member States (AMS) embassies in China, AMS Tourism authorities in China, Chinese and ASEAN medias and university students from ASEAN countries attended the event.

Shi Zhongjun stated that as a vital gateway to China’s economy, Tianjin has developed a distinctive historical and cultural character that blends ancient and modern, Chinese and Western, creating a beautifully diverse heritage. Over the years, Tianjin has placed great emphasis on developing multi-faceted cooperation with ASEAN countries and has carried out extensive collaboration with the ACC. He expressed the hope that this cultural tourism promotion event would enhance deeper cultural exchanges and more extensive tourism collaboration between Tianjin and more ASEAN countries in the near future.
Speaking on behalf of all invited ASEAN diplomatic envoys, Norfarina Mohd Azmee noted that such events serve as a vital conduit for tourism and cultural exchanges, underscoring that this people-to-people connection forms the bedrock of a stronger shared future as we approach the 35th anniversary of ASEAN-China dialogue relations.

The event featured experiences including intangible cultural heritage performances, food market, and traditional Chinese medicine tuina massage. These activities vividly conveyed Tianjin’s unique charm and profound historical culture, allowing Chinese and foreign guests to engage in lively exchanges in a joyful and harmonious atmosphere, shared a feast of culture and cuisine, and discussed the bright prospects of China-ASEAN relations.
