on August 7, the Sino‑Foreign Enterprises Meeting on Chinese Medicinal Materials Development, jointly organized by The Diplomat Magazine and the Longhui Chinese Medicinal Materials Development Association, was held in Longhui, Hunan Province, under the theme of “Sharing Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture, Boosting International Exchanges, and Co‑creating the Future of Chinese Medicinal Materials”.
Feng Xiyang, Chairman of the Longhui County Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, and Xu Peiwei, Deputy County Magistrate, gathered with industry representatives from Vietnam, the Republic of Korea, Hong Kong of China and local enterprises to explore new opportunities for international cooperation in the Chinese medicinal materials sector.
At the meeting, Du Quang Tung, Agricultural Counsellor of the Embassy of Vietnam in China, delivered the opening address. With elaborate PPT presentations, he introduced Vietnam’s policy framework for medicinal plant resources, quality standard control and export administration. He also gave an outlook on cooperation prospects between China and Vietnam in herbal planting‑technology exchanges, raw‑material trade and joint research and development. He expressed his expectation to establish a stable and mutually‑beneficial cooperation mechanism on medicinal materials with Longhui and more regions in China, so that the traditional medicinal resources of both countries can benefit wider populations.
Xiao Jianhua, representative of Hong Kong Shouchuang Chinese Medicinal Materials Trading Platform, presented the platform’s layout and achievements in R&D and innovation, quality control, brand operation and international trade networks. He pointed out that as a crucial hub linking the Chinese mainland to global markets, Hong Kong enjoys unique advantages in quality inspection, standard certification and financial services. Shouchuang hopes to give full play to its international platform to help high‑quality Longhui‑origin medicinal materials tap into overseas markets, enhance brand value and galvanize industrial growth.
Kim Dong‑hui, Chief Representative of the Gyeongsangnam‑do Provincial Government Shanghai Representative Office of the Republic of Korea, screened a promotional video for Gyeongsangnam‑do and voiced strong willingness for all‑round cooperation with Longhui. He looked forward to promoting traditional medicine culture worldwide and building a regular international exchange mechanism through diverse forms including co‑hosted exhibitions, academic exchanges and cultural promotion events.
Leading enterprise representatives from the Longhui Chinese Medicinal Materials Development Association also gave product presentations. Chinese and foreign guests held in‑depth discussions covering standardization of Chinese medicinal materials, facilitation of cross‑border trade, scientific‑technological innovation and achievement transformation, as well as international dissemination of traditional medicine culture.
All participants agreed that this meeting serves not only as a grand event for idea exchange and experience sharing, but also as a solid bridge for enhancing mutual trust and advancing cooperation, injecting fresh impetus into building a promising future for the Chinese medicinal materials industry.
“this is the first time I come to Longhui, but I can see that it is an area as icon for culture and also traditional medicine. Through the meeting this afternoon, we can see there is a big opportunity for cooperation between Longhui and other countries regarding to the traditional herbs development.“
Du Quang Tung, Agricultural Counsellor of the Embassy of Vietnam in China, gave an interview after the meeting. He said.
